CEO & Founder

Murad Karimi is the Founder and CEO of Mosaic Management. Murad founded Mosaic with the acquisition of a Moe’s Southwest Grill portfolio in 2010. Post-acquisition, Murad oversaw the company as Area Supervisor, managing the turnaround and facilities upgrades of the restaurants. By 2012, the company was New Franchise Partner of the Year for Moe’s. In 2014, Murad leveraged his operating experience to acquire a refranchised Arby’s portfolio in Tampa, over which he initially served as Director of Operations. Since then, Murad has grown his operating experience alongside the capabilities of Mosaic Management as a specialized multi-unit management, acquisition, and development company. Prior to founding Mosaic, Murad worked overseas in defense contracting and hospitality real estate development. Since moving back to the U.S. in 2009, Murad has been active in franchising, real estate investing, other business acquisitions, and non-profit work. Murad received his B.B.A. from George Washington University and his M.B.A. from Emory’s Goizueta Business School, where he now guest lectures in graduate finance classes. Murad serves on Emory University’s Board of Visitors, The Carter Center’s Board of Councilors, and is an active member of YPO Southern 7’s chapter.

Richmond Bernhardt, CFA

CFO & Partner

Richmond Bernhardt joined Mosaic as a Partner in 2017. He is active in all aspects of the firm’s management and investment process. Prior to joining Mosaic, Richmond was the Portfolio Manager for a real estate private equity fund platform that focused on water and environmental assets. Richmond’s group managed three dedicated funds, which raised and deployed $300 million of institutional equity capital in more than 80 projects across 14 states. Previous experience also includes investment banking, equity sales and trading, and alternative investments. Richmond is a graduate of Vanderbilt University (B.A. Economics) and is a CFA charterholder.

Alex Chu

Alex Chu

President

Alex Chu serves as the President of Mosaic Management. He oversees the corporate operations, financing, and development functions of Mosaic Management. In this Role, Alex manages strategic initiatives, conducts financial and operating reviews with managers, and is the primary point of contact for the remodels and new store development. Prior to joining Mosaic, Alex has held various strategy, M&A, and operations roles at large franchisees and franchisors in the restaurant and fitness industries. Alex is a graduate of The University of Texas McCombs School of Business (BBA Finance).

Sara Bruce, MSHRD, SHRM-CP

Sara Bruce, MSHRD, SHRM-CP

Director of Human Resources

Sara Bruce is responsible for supervising and providing consultation for all human resource activities in Mosaic. She specializes in strategic planning, workforce compliance, leadership coaching and development, benefits, talent acquisition strategy, data analysis and employee relations. With over 10 years of People Ops leadership experience in the restaurant industry, Sara has a thorough understanding of operations, maximizing the potential for organizational growth and development. Prior to joining Mosaic, Sara served in various managerial roles leading strategic operations for scalability and growth. Sara has a Master of Science in Human Resources Development from Villanova University and received her B.A. in Digital Media from Temple University.

Anthony Hui

Anthony Hui

Associate

Anthony Hui oversees the operational analytics for Mosaic’s portfolios and assists in the due diligence and investment analysis of prospective acquisitions. Prior to joining Mosaic, Anthony spent 5 years at two large restaurant franchisors in Development and Operations Analytics. Anthony received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.

Hala Moddelmog is a business and civic leader with decades of experience in President and CEO roles of national consumer and non-profit organizations, including Arby’s, Church’s Chicken, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. She currently serves as the CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. As the first female President and CEO of the Chamber, Hala works on behalf of more than 15 Fortune 100 companies across the Atlanta region. She has also served as a corporate director for publicly traded companies and as a board member for blue-chip non-profit organizations.

Ramzanali Karimi has over 40 years of experience in the real estate, oil & gas, and telecommunication industries. Ramzanali is the Founder & CEO of M2Z2 COM, Inc. and until June of 2018 was a shareholder and Director of United Cellular, a preferred Sprint dealer with more than 90 locations in 11 states. Ramzanali has acquired, developed and managed over 100 gas stations, office buildings, shopping centers, and land development projects in over 5 states and 3 countries.

Mark Bell

Mark Bell

Mark Bell is a Managing Principal of Diversified Trust in the Atlanta office. Previously, Mark served as Chief Investment Officer and a Managing Director for BlueArc Capital Management, an alternative asset manager for family offices, where he remains a Director. Mark began his career with McKinsey & Co. and subsequently was Director of Strategy at D.E. Shaw & Co where he developed the organization’s private equity investment strategy and helped launch the firm’s reinsurance business.

Thomas Smith

Thomas Smith

Thomas Smith holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is considered an expert in the areas of labor economics, the economics and finance of entertainment and sports, pricing and market formation, and global macroeconomics. He is currently a Finance Professor and Economist at Emory University in Atlanta, and runs an economic consulting group, TMS Economic Consulting, Inc.
